Make food support welcoming and reliable

A shared meal can offer practical help and a sense of connection, especially when households are facing a difficult period. Planning should consider local food habits, safe preparation, accessibility, and the needs of older adults or people who cannot travel easily.

Organisers can ask residents what would be useful, explain when and where support is available, and make sure people are not required to share private hardship publicly. When a person has a medical dietary concern, decisions should be guided by a qualified professional rather than general assumptions.

You can see meals and ration handovers in our food support updates. For an active appeal, the campaign page lists the items being requested and the progress reported. Please contact us before sending food so we can agree on the items, quantities and delivery.
